New Board of Governors Inaugurated

Ramogi Institute of Advanced Technology (RIAT) has officially inaugurated its new Board of Governors, marking the beginning of a renewed commitment to transformative leadership, innovation and institutional excellence.

The inauguration ushered in a team of experienced professionals entrusted with providing strategic oversight and policy direction as the institution continues to position itself as a centre of excellence in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

The Board, led by the Chair, Mr. Benard Shikoli Isalambo, reaffirmed its commitment to steering the institution on a path of innovation, growth and greater societal impact through initiatives that respond to national development priorities and the evolving needs of industry.

Among its key priorities, the Board has pledged to deepen the implementation of the Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) modularized curriculum and expand the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) programme to enable more individuals to gain formal certification for skills acquired through experience and informal learning.

The Board also committed to aligning the institution's programmes and initiatives with national and presidential directives, particularly those aimed at promoting youth employment, digital skills development and industrial transformation. To support the institution's growth agenda, the Board will focus on enhancing resource mobilization efforts to facilitate infrastructure development, strengthen institutional capacity and improve the quality of training and learning environments.

Recognising the importance of good governance, the Board pledged to strengthen governance and accountability mechanisms to ensure efficient service delivery and foster a culture of transparency and continuous improvement across the institution.

In line with RIAT's commitment to holistic education, the Board has also prioritised increased support for sports and co-curricular activities. Plans are underway to improve sporting facilities and expand students' participation in regional and national competitions, with a focus on talent nurturing, physical well-being and mental wellness.

The Board further underscored the importance of partnerships and collaborations in advancing the institution's mission. It committed to pursuing strategic partnerships with industry, development partners and other stakeholders to support learning, provide training opportunities and facilitate industrial attachments that enhance trainees' employability and exposure to the world of work.

The inauguration of the new Board of Governors signals a promising chapter for RIAT as the institution continues to strengthen its role in producing competent, innovative and industry-ready graduates equipped to contribute meaningfully to national development.

With a shared vision and renewed sense of purpose, the Board and the institution's management look forward to working together to build a dynamic, inclusive and future-ready institution that transforms lives through quality technical and vocational education and training.
